Andersen Windows & Doors
During Summer 2024, I worked for Andersen Windows & Doors as an Electromechanical R&D Engineering Intern for the enterprise. I had the opportunity to work with the electromechanical team on numerous projects including:
Designed new mechanical components to bring patented smart lock technology to the market
Developed a custom data logger in Altium Designer to allow critical metrics to be captured during product testing
Custom PCB for Data Logger
Additionally, I wrote test plans for a new door product and worked with the testing team at the R&D center to report important findings. Using a data logger I created, we collected force data during opening patio doors that had never been collected before, and I shared the pertinent findings with the stakeholders in the team.
Smart Lock
This data logger allowed for collection of standby power, max power usage, cycle count, and door opening distance which I then inputed into custom Python scripts that parsed the data and made it easily readable. From these readable graphs, data-driven design decisions could be made.
